Picking the upper thread, polishing the looper in the home machine.

Very often during sewing it happens that it breaks the upper thread and one of the reasons is scratching the hook.

The reason for scratching the catcher in the sewing machine is one – contact with the needle either when sewing a thick material or breaking it.

In today’s entry, we will focus on the Łucznik 834 machine but the manual is universal and fits well with other machines.

We start with unscrewing the presser foot and the needle. I left the needle because I wanted to see the time setting of the hook in relation to the needle.

We open the latch

We take out the bobbin with the thread

We pry it on the right side and pull out the stitch plate

We unscrew the bobbin case with the screw shown in the picture until we feel resistance

We take out the drum and by the way we can clear it: a link with a description of how to do it

We loose the screws marked on the picture and remove the first fixing plate (you can remove them completely)

Now unscrew 3 screws from the fixing plate and remove it

The last thing is to unscrew the transport claws

There is nothing else left for us to do to polish the looper

As you can see, in my case it was very rusty and the machine had to be unused for a long time. In this extreme case I started with P150 paper, then P1000 and P2000 at the end. After the operation, the machine started sewing again and it did not break the thread any more.
